Honoring our Soldiers

I just thought I would take a few minuets out of your day to honor our military personnel. There have been many recent insidences overseas; some with a happy ending and others a tragic one.

Out of the Ft. Polk group alone we have had many wounded including the husband of one of my co-workers. His story however is hopeful. He sustained injuries to his left leg and arm when his convoy was attacked. His femoral artery was cut and if it wasn't for the quick reaction of the Medic he would have easily bleed out. He underwent multiple surgeries and spent a month at Walter Reed. He returned home yesterday where he will continue his physical therapy and should make a full recovery.

That story is just one of many, but not everyone was as lucky. This month alone 26 soldiers have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Only one of them we new personally. Many of you will remember him as Nathan's old 5-25 battery commander. Mark was a wonderful man and well respected throughout the Army community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rosenberg family during this trying time. He will be missed but never forgotten

Mark Rosenberg grew up in South Florida. “All boy,” his aunt, Madelyn Rosenberg, remembers. “Very active, but very lovable.” As long as she can recall, Maj. Rosenberg wanted a military career like his father, Burton Rosenberg, had.

He attended New Mexico Military Institute and entered the Army in 1996. Later, he met a woman, Julie, and they were married . He and Julie had two boys, now 3 and 22 months. They settled in Colorado near Fort Carson, where he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division.

Maj. Rosenberg was on his second tour of duty when the Humvee he was riding in was struck by an IED in Baghdad.
