First Coach Purse

Today Sydney got her very own authentic Coach wristlet. Her boyfriend Aiden sent it to her for an early birthday present because he wanted her to have during her vacation. She loves it so much, in fact she carried it around for most of the afternoon. She did like to chew on it a little more then I would have liked, but she is a little young to understand what nice things are. Thanks again Aiden (Krystin and Adam too) for the great gift.
Perfect size for perfect girl
Very excited to have a purse like Mommy's

Sydney's Birthday Party Invitation

I know I sent a lot of you this invitation but I had to post it. I think it is just sooooo cute. I know some of you will definitely not be able to make it but we had to share it with everyone we love. Sydney cannot wait for her party and especially for Daddy to come home.

I blocked out the address and phone number for obvious reasons of posting things on the Internet

For anyone who is interested the invitations were made by design diva. She made the file and then e-mailed it to me and I was able to print out as many copies as I needed. She has tons of themes and I think will even custamize orders to fit what you need. We will definetly be using her again.

Pictures of the Week

Well it is a few days late but here are some new pics of Sydney from this week before she got sick...

Dealing with Army Doctors

Well we had another adventure last night. She had had a low fever all day, but a little after midnight she woke up screaming. I took her temp and it was 104.2 degrees and Tylenol was not relieving it. I was a little alarmed and didn't want to wait until the morning so at 1:00am we drove to the Ft. Polk Emergency Room. When we got there I was surprised to find out we were the only ones in the waiting room so I knew we wouldn't have to wait long. When they finally called us back and took her temp it had gone down a little and was now at 103.5 degrees. The Dr. came in and basically told me that children were supposed to have fevers and made me feel like a bad parent for bringing her in. I don't know if he didn't want to do his job or if we woke him up, but he was very rude. He then brought me this printout of fever myths. If I understood him right I shouldn't be concerned until her temp reaches about 108 degrees.

He then proceeded to check her ears and told me he didn't know if it was an ear infection because she had wax in them. The way he said it made me feel like my child is filthy and CPS needs to be called. I thought that you were not supposed to clean the wax out of babies ears because they need it to prevent bacteria from entering the canal. Well boy was I wrong.

All in all the evening sucked and I did all that I could to fight back the tears that were building up. If Nathan would have been there I don't think he would have belittled me like that. I personally think of myself as a fairly relaxed person and don't normally overreact to situations. I felt and still do that it was the right thing to bring her in.

The Jack A** did eventually give her some antibiotics and of course something to clean her filthy ears out, but he told me he really didn't want to giver her anything. Her fever has been off and on today and has been getting fairly high, but I know where I will not be bringing her if it continues. Sorry this is so very long, but I needed an outlet for my frustration.

Buh Bye Shockley Family

Well today was the big day. Mayhaw Street became a little quieter today when our favorite family on the corner drove away. They left fully loaded down this morning heading to Ft. Benning, GA.

I would like to say thank you to all of you who called to "check" on me today. You would have thought someone died with all of the concerned phone calls I received. Both Sydney and I are doing well and NO we did not sit around and cry all day like some of you are thinking. They will be missed greatly but we know they are moving on to bigger and better things (anywhere but here is great).

Goodbye Micah, Shana, Shiner, Beaux, Shiloh, Hidey (in spirit), and Baby Landon. Please keep us touch and updated on our daily Fiddlesticks nonsense. If you haven't seen our montage to the Shockley's check it out. As Sydney would say buh bye (with two waving hands).

A Message From Sydney

If you can decipher that then you are better then me. :)

This is one of her favorite things to do. She types (bangs on the keyboard) to daddy on the instant message. She really enjoys doing it. She will stand up and reach for the keyboard if I will not pick her up to let her do it. It is cute but also a little annoying sometimes when I am trying to type something.

She has also figured out how to make the printer spit paper out. She hits the GO button on it and then it makes a noise and a piece of paper comes out. She plays with the paper and then does it all over again. Very smart but not very "green" wasting paper. :)

Peek A Boo Sydney

Sydney has learned how to play her first real game. She is a pro at Peek A Boo. She does it everywhere now. She will duck behind towels, blankets, and most recently she will just turn her head to one side so she can't see you. It is rather cute. We thought we would share a short video clip of the action. Enjoy...

Bathtime Fun

About a month or so ago I finally bought Sydney some bath toys. They are little foam bugs and flowers that came with a net to fish them out of the water with. She mainly chews on them but does enjoy them in the tub. I thought we would share a few cute pictures.

Chewing on them as usual

This is her new favorite face to make (I think she is trying to lick the snot from her nose)

Happy Father's Day!

We also wanted to wish our own family and those of you who are like family a Happy Father's Day. We wish we were near everyone so we could celebrate with each of you. Thank you for making us who we are today. We love you and will see you all soon.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy First Father's Day!!!

We wanted to wish Nathan a very happy first Father's Day. Even though you are not with us right now we know you are a great dad. Sydney loves talking to you on the phone, watching you read her stories, and of course typing on the IM (I think that is her favorite). We can't wait to give you a big hug and see you in person. Have a great Day. XOXOXOXOX

Sydney and the Turtle

Sydney got to meet April's turtle today. She stared at him and really didn't know what to think. She would put her hands on the side of the tank and he would follow her. I think the turtles name is Tuby and he fit in the palm of her daughter's hand when they got him. He has gotten so big since then (hence the name). Thought we would share a few pictures of the meeting...

Pictures of the Week

Here are a few pictures from the week...

First Swimming Experience

Today was another first for our baby girl. She got to go swimming in Miss April's pool. We got her all lathered up in sunscreen, put her little swimmer diaper on, put on her cute ruffle behind swimsuit on, and of course we cannot forget the hat. I was expecting her to have a good time because she loves the bathtub, but I didn't know she would enjoy it as much as she did. She kicked and kicked and was actually moving herself around the pool in her floaty. She even got dunked twice and didn't fuss at all. I actually went in with her even though most of you know how much I didn't want to so please ignore me and just look at the cute baby :) . With as hot as it is going to get this summer I am sure Sydney will get a lot of practice swimming.
All ready for the pool Mommy Sitting in her floating chair
Kicking her legs
After her first dunk under water and still smiling
And of course I got some on video...

(The girls in the pool with her is April's daughter Heather and one of her friends)

A Little Morning PT

I think she was getting jealous that Mommy was working out and she wasn't. So the first thing she did was lift a little weights (3lbs.), practiced balancing on the stability ball, and then finished it up with some resistance bands. She is getting her PT in now and cannot wait until Daddy gets to join her.

Trying to snack on the weight
Taking a breather
It is harder then you think sitting on this ball
Cool down and another snack

Pictures from Last Week

I was slacking a little last week with updating the blog so here are some adorable pictures from then...

A little light reading (just like Daddy)
She pulled her toy bin down and couldn't decide what to play with

She Finally Has A Tooth

It has been a long time coming, but Sydney finally has a tooth. It is letter P to be exact. :) She is a little over the average age for getting her first tooth, but that is just fine by me. I have made an eruption chart off to the side so you can see when more teeth erupt. She will soon be able to try a whole new variety of food. Happy chewing.
